The crews of 617 Squadron that took part in the epic Dambusters raid on the night of 16/17 May 1943 were among the finest in the RAF, especially the pilots. They were the elite of Bomber Command, and when they left RAF Scampton that night, the skills of their pilots - some of the finest bomber pilots of the Second World War, would be tested to the limit.

Featuring some of the most famous personalities from World War II - with more to follow.
Intricately worked in clay until totally life-like, each bust is with the greatest of care, individually cold cast in Bronze.
When this delicate and lengthy process is complete and the cast is set and removed from the mould, the artist skilfully burnishes each individual Bronze figure by hand to a radient finished patina worthy of the Louvre. Working in his own dedicated studio , the artist Peter Close completes every process on an individual basis, and entirely by hand.
