Bomb Away - The Third Assault by Robert Taylor

Bomb Away - The Third Assault by Robert Taylor
Dambusters

Robert Taylor's powerful new Master Drawing is a magnificent portrayal of 'Mick' Martin's successful attack on the Mohne Dam and is issued to commemorate the men of 617 Squadron who took part in Operation Chastise. These increasingly rare signatures are becoming progressively more difficult to find, and this new addition to Robert's Graphite Collection may prove to be one of the few remaining occasions when so many veterans are gathered together on a single print release.

Signed by 6 veterans: Sergeant Ray Grayston, Squadron Leader George Johnson, Corporal KEN LUCAS, Flight Sergeant Grant McDONALD, Squadron Leader LES MUNRO, Sergeant FRED SUTHERLAND,

Dambusters - The Morning After by Gerald Coulson

Dambusters - The Morning After by Gerald Coulson
Lancaster - 17 May 1943
Just after midnight, on the night of 16/17 May 1943, Lancaster crews of 617 Squadron undertook what was to become the most remarkable and probably best-remembered air raid of the Second World War. Flying all the way from their base in England in darkness at tree-top height, with just the light of the moon to guide them, the specially selected crews made a surprise attack on the mighty hydro-electric dams in the Ruhr. Gerald Coulson’s new painting shows a single Lancaster of 617 Squadron, one of the lucky ones having made it safely back to base, proudly standing alone as if in tribute to those that didn’t return.

Signed by Sergeant RAYMOND E. GRAYSTON, Squadron Leader GEORGE L. JOHNSON DFM, Corporal KENNETH LUCAS. Artist Proof also signed by RICHARD TODD

As Mick Martin's aircraft pulls away from the target his 9,250lb bomb explodes behind him and although not actually breaching the dam wall, sends a huge plume of water into the air leaving a fine mist hanging in the atmosphere. Guy Gibson having already made his run flies to Martins right, lights on full drawing gun fire from the towers.
