Aircraft: F-105D Thunderchief The F-105D Thunderchief of Col. Robert L. Scott, 33rd TFS, 355th TFW, scores his MiG-17 kill on March 23, 1967. Col. Scott was leading a mission of 20 Thuds that day on a strike against barracks on the northwest side of Hanoi. Visibility was exceptional, and coming off target, the Thuds were pointed right at the MiG's taking off, ready for a fight. Col. Scott's official call sign that day was "leech 01", but almost everyone in 7th Air Force knew his personal call sign of "Scotch 1 bags a MiG." Overall size: 24½ x 32"
