“In a fast changing world, sadly, the romance of the blacksmith's forge has almost entirely been swept aside in the interests of new technology and commercialism. However, I tracked Jimmy down in Hertfordshire where he still works in an original forge complete with bellows with a real fire. To complete the painting, Jimmy also found Harry the horse who lived nearby. All the time Jimmy was working, his labours were keenly observed by his two Jack Russell terriers who were actually behaving themselves for once.”
