After a promising start to his Formula One career Juan Pablo Montoya failed
to win a race after his victory in Italy in 2001 and the 2002 season also
proved frustrating. 2003 brought with it a host of new rules and legislation
which promised to open up the field, however from the start Ferrari looked
as though they would dominate another year and Montoya would be relegated
to a lower table position.
This was about to change on June 1st in Monte Carlo. Putting in an astounding
drive Montoya pushed his Williams BMW to the limit to take victory in
what is possibly the most prestigious race of the season – the Monaco
Grand Prix.
This outstanding finish proved to be a major turning point and launched
him on a series of podium finishes which made Montoya a serious contender
for the 2003 title.
In this superb painting Gerald Coulson has captured the speed and exhilaration
of the scene perfectly as the Williams hurtles through the harbour at
Monte Carlo. For followers of the team and Juan Pablo Montoya this is
set to be a special and highly collectable edition
