As the sun rises above the Mediterranean early one morning of 20 April, 1942, the American carrier USS Wasp launches Spitfires of 601 and 603 Squadrons towards Malta in a desperate and successful attempt to defend the beleaguered island. Their timely arrival turned the tide of the battle for Malta, and ultimately the war in the Mediterranean.

Scorching down the peaceful beauty of the Spey river valley, Scotland, four RAF Phantom FG-1’s lead by (at that time) Wg. Cdr. Ian Macfadyen and his navigator flying XV500, flash over Craiglockhart Castle on an ultra low-level training sortie during the squadron’s period of transition from its formation at RAF Conningsby to its home station at RAF Leuchars. All the prints are signed by a Treble 1 Sqn. Phantom pilot and by the artist. The Artist Proofs are additionally signed by Air Marshal Ian Macfadyen pilot of the lead aircraft

On the 30th April 1982, flying from Wideawake airfield on Ascension island, Flt. Lt. Martin Withers and his crew, flying RAF Vulcan (XM607) launched the first Black Buck bombing operation of the Falklands War.
