Johnnie Johnson’s 144th Canadian Wing Spitfires taking off from a hastily prepared temporary airstrip near St. Croix-Sur-Mer, Normandy 1944.

The distinction of being the first R.A.F. unit to operate from French mainland soil since the Fall of France in 1940 went to Johnnie Johnson's 144 Canadian wing on June 10th, 1944. It was a milestone in the hard-fought air war against the Luftwaffe which had commenced with the air battles over France a long four years before.

Issued in 1984 these publications are unique in the world of collecting. They have a special value and interest to collectors, not found in any other form of collecting and are EXTREMELY RARE.

Two volumes are available - 'FIGHTER PILOTS' and 'BOMBER AIRCREW' - each a series containing 26 individually signed Profiles, including combat reports, notes and evaluations of aircraft types flown in combat, plus fascinating biographical notes and details of awards for gallantry.

EACH INDIVIDUAL PROFILE CARRIES AN ORIGINAL SIGNATURE

The album cover is in RAF blue with the RAF crest on the front being in 22ct gold leaf. Inside are thick double sided hardback pages covered with crystal clear acrylic sheets to preserve the originality of the profile and signature. The overall size is 11½ inches x 12 inches

This book is in a similar format to the Fighter and Bomber Command Profiles books above. The cover is finished in Air Force Blue.
