Jim Clark was clearly the greatest racing driver of his time, and the combination of Clark and Colin Chapman produced two driver’s world championships and constructor’s championships for Lotus in 1963 and 1965. The 1967 Lotus 49 first used the Cosworth DFV engine, and his victory during the ’67 season was his last home victory prior to his unfortunate accident at Hockenheim in 1968.

Jenson Button's victory at the 2009 Turkish G.P. was his sixth victory of the first seven G.P s of the 2009 season, equalling the previous record set by motor racing legends Alberto Ascari, Juan Manuel Fangio, Jim Clark and Michael Schumacher. With a good car and the backing of the new Brawn GP Team Jenson has proved that he has all the makings of an F1 World Champion.

With a front row of A.J.Foyt, Jim Clark and Dan Gurney, the 1965 Indy 500 was bound to be a special event. For the first 116 laps Clark and Foyt battled consistently for the lead, leaving the rest of the field behind them, but eventually Jim Clark left all in his wake as he gained victory two laps ahead of his nearest rival.

After two seasons with the Cooper team and one season with Brabham, Jochen Rindt joined Lotus in 1969, alongside world champion Graham Hill. In 1970 he won the Monaco G.P. in the Lotus 49 but, once the new Lotus 72 was ready, Rindt had four consecutive victories at the Dutch, French, British and German Grand Prix.

The 1999 season looked good for Schumacher and Ferrari with victories at Imola and Monaco, until an accident at the British Grand Prix resulted in a broken leg. The challenge was taken up by Ferrari's Eddie Irvine with victories in Austria, Germany and Malaysia but his 3rd place lost him the title by just 4 points to Mika Hakkinen in Japan, but won the constructors championship for Ferrari.

24 Hour LE MANS, 14th/15th, June, 2003

The 2003 LE MANS Race was dominated from start to finish by the two Bentley Speed 8's, with victory going to the no.7 Bentley of Tom Kristensen, Ninaldo Capello and Guy Smith. This was Kristensen's fifth, consecutive, victory in only his seventh year at the 'Circuit De La Sarthe'. The victory was Bentley's first at LE MANS for 73 years and was further complemented by the second place of the No 8 Bentley, driven by Johnny Herbert, David Brabham and Mark Blundell.

Dan Gurney's European racing experience was instrumental in the creation of this new Anglo-American challenger. Built by Lotus in the UK, having modified their model 25 Formula 1 design, it was revolutionary in every way compared to the traditional 'roadster', with the driver's head barely visable, mere inches ahead of its shrieking V8 Ford built engine.

In 1958 Phil Hill was brought into the Ferrari Grand Prix team, but it was not until the 1961 season, armed with Ferrari’s first rear-engined car, that his obvious talent was unleashed. In the potent Shark Nose Ferrari, Hill’s season became a straightforward battle with team mate Count Wolfgange Von Trips, with Von Trips just ahead on points at the penultimate grand prix at Monza.

The 1999 F1 World Championship seemed to be Mika Hakinnen’s from mid-season when Michael Schumacher’s unfortunate accident at the British Grand Prix, put him out of contention. Ferrari’s Eddie Irvine had other idea’s however, but after some thrilling racing in the second half of the season, Mika’s tears of frustration turned to tears of joy after a much-deserved victory at Suzuka, Japan gave him his second consecutive world title.

The Indianapolis Signature Series

A.J.Foyt was driving a Ford powered Coyote at the 1967 Indianapolis 500 and, in the latter stages of the race was following leader Parnelli Jones' STP Turbine until, with just three laps to go, Jones' transmission bearing broke and A.J. swept into the lead. As he was about to take the checkered flag a multi-car crash blocked his way.

Ronnie Peterson made his debut with the March team in 1970 and, in only his second season, he gained five second places and was runner-up to 1971 world champion Jackie Stewart. It was not until 1973, when he joined Lotus, that he gained his first victory at the French Grand Prix, followed by victories at the Austrian, Italian and U.S. Grand Prix, achieving third place in the world championship.
